How to Choose the Best Photo Podcast for You

With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to choose the best photography podcast for you. But fear not, as we have curated a guide to help you navigate through the vast sea of options. My favorite photography podcasts are centered around the creative process and delve into the psychological aspects of what being a photographer is all about; however, you might not like those things as much as I do! Fortunately, there is a plethora of podcasts you can listen to, whether you like portraits, street photography, wedding photography, landscape photography, or consider yourself to be a generalist. The key is to try at least 3 episodes from each of the ones below that interest you and if they don't hook you, no big deal.

What I Look For In Photography Podcasts - More Than Gear

I personally enjoy podcasts that are conversational or when there is a skilled interviewer asking great questions to elicit solid information from their guests. Additionally, at this stage in my career, I shy away from podcasts that are mostly gear-focused since you can find that type of information in a much better format on YouTube or in review articles from established review sites such as DPReview, Camera Labs, or my personal favorite as a Sony photographer, phillipreeve.net. After all, photographers make photographs, not cameras. Lastly, I highly value creators that can dedicate the time and effort required to produce new episodes on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. As such, here are my recommendations for photography podcasts you should check out in 2024.
