I offer landscape photography fine art prints through this website, in sizes ranging from 16" x 24" all the way to 48" x 96" and beyond. Many of my fine art photography prints can be made to very specific sizes, mediums, or customized to your specifications, so if you don't see a size that fits for your space, please contact me and I will be happy to work with you! I recently created an acrylic silver-halide print that was 10 feet wide for one of my collectors, so trust me when I say I can meet your fine art décor needs!
There are many benefits to purchasing and showing fine art landscape and nature photography prints in your home or office. If you are interested in learning more about the science behind this, please visit the Matt Payne Photography Blog. I also have extensive experience working with medical buildings and offices to improve their space using my fine art prints for sale and you can learn more about that here.
I have chosen to offer three mediums of print for my artwork - TruLife® Acrylic Fine Art Prints, Hot Press Fine Art Paper Prints, and ChromaLuxe Dye Sublimation Metal Prints. These three mediums were chosen for several reasons:
- 2 of the print mediums arrive ready to hang, reducing your end costs.
- They best represent my photography artwork.
- They use the absolute highest quality materials that are designed to last many lifetimes.
- There are options for collectors, serious art buyers, and those simply seeking home or office décor.
- They include hanging hardware which requires no special training to install.
- They all have a visually striking presentation that immediately starts a conversation and impresses.
Acrylic Fine Art Nature & Landscape Photography Prints
These fine art nature photo prints are printed on a silver-halide substrate and then are face-mounted with high-end 1/8″ TruLife® Acrylic for a clean, sharp and attractive presentation that is ready to hang upon delivery. The photo artwork is created on a silver halide photographic polyester base which was chosen for its optical clarity, color rendition, and longevity. These fine art prints are incapsulated between a crystal clear acrylic base layer and museum-grade TruLife acrylic glass. TruLife is crystal clear, non-reflective, and scratch resistant. TruLife reacts to direct light by providing a three-dimensional glow that allows the sharp details and vibrant colors to shine through without distraction - a perfect compliment for the fine art landscape and nature photography prints for sale here.
This method of art creation uses lasers to precisely expose material on a polyester base. Exposed paper is then processed in traditional photographic chemistry. With an apparent resolution in excess of 4000 dpi, LightJet prints are arguably the sharpest, highest fidelity prints obtainable anywhere, exhibiting the continuous tone, look and feel of traditional photographs but without the limitations of traditional optical printing. The material has an extremely glossy, almost glass like surface resulting in high color saturation, fidelity and depth. Images appear three dimensional, similar in visual characteristic to Ilfochrome (Cibachrome). These prints are the standard worldwide for photographic fine art printing.
Unlike most of my competitor's acrylic artwork, my acrylic artwork is carefully placed between TruLife Acrylic and another archival substrate, preventing warping caused by changes in temperature and humidity. I use an adhesive called DIASEC®, which is a silicon adhesive that ensures a complete and permanent bond. Unlike sticky film based acrylic mounts used by other artists, DIASEC is engineered to never separate, bubble, peel, or fail.
DIASEC has many advantages:
- DIASEC is a tried-and-true process since 1969. There have been no delamination failures since 1969.
- DIASEC Acrylic Face Mount has a lifetime guarantee against delamination on the face of the print.
- My photo lab the only Licensed manufacturer of the DIASEC Process in North America.
- DIASEC uses a Proprietary Catalyst (hardener) and a proprietary silicone type gel to permanently bond the face of the print to the acrylic.
- A DIASEC Face Mount also adds additional UV protection in front of the print.
- Once the DIASEC process has cured the entire airtight panel remains chemically inert and stable.
- DIASEC contains no plasticizers and is resistant to fungicidal matter, bacterial agents, air-borne pollutants, and contaminants.
- The finished DIASEC product remains flexible, enabling it to withstand changes in temperature and humidity, which commonly affect other pressure sensitive sticky film adhesives.
This mounting process creates a smooth and contemporary feel with wonderful visual benefits you will see right away in your fine art nature photography print. This is the premier presentation system for bringing detail, color and tonal range to life in a way that traditional photo framing cannot.
My fine art photo prints utilize TruLife Acrylic - a revolutionary product that delivers the highest-resolution viewing experience of photographic artwork available today. With lifelike colors, incredible depth and clarity, TruLife is the best way to show high quality art. The edges are hand polished for a crystal clear look. The Acrylic Face Mount comes ready to hang with a metal french cleat style hanging system. This artwork will look great against most any wall type. While TruLife is glare resistant, I do not recommend hanging acrylic artwork in rooms with a lot of windows and natural light as glare is almost impossible to totally eliminate, even with TruLife. This can be mitigated by lighting your artwork, which is covered below.
This is the same product that museums and galleries are using to protect their works of art - so you should too. Here are just some of the benefits of choosing TruLife Acrylic:
- When lit correctly from above, virtually eliminates reflections.
- Achieves the most vibrant colors, depth, and clarity.
- Blocks up to 99% of UV rays.
- Anti-static properties repel dust.
- Durable hard coat protects against scratches.
- Shatter resistance safeguards against injury and damage to artwork.
- Cleans like glass – no special acrylic cleaners needed.
- Coating is engineered for permanence.
Fine Art Landscape Photography Paper Prints
Your artwork is printed on beautiful Hot Press Fine Art Paper. This is by far my favorite paper print to use for fine art printing. It has a really nice rag texture and presents details in a stunning way. These are shipped to you in a protective tube and should be taken directly to your framer to prevent unintentional damage. Unfortunately, I cannot replace artwork that is damaged due to poor handling upon receipt.
Fine Art Nature Photography Metal Prints
This popular option meets your rigorous fine art nature photography expectations while keeping the overall cost down. Using world-renowned inks and the honed eyes of master printers, your artwork is first printed on a high-resolution transfer medium. It is then placed in careful registration against a coated aluminum sheet scientifically engineered for maximum image performance and longevity. Using precisely determined temperatures, calibrated machine speeds and attention to detail, the image along with the aluminum receiver are heated – swelling the special coating while evaporating the inks. The thirsty coating absorbs the printing dyes and hardens as it cools – locking the artwork into the protective barrier. Metal prints are known for their wide gamut allowing for very saturated colors. Two metal surfaces are available - a glossy surface with more pop and saturation (albeit with more glare and reflective properties), and a mid-gloss satin surface with similar color intensity and detail as the glossy option, with reduced glare. These metal prints are waterproof, fade and scratch resistant.
Lighting your Fine Art Landscape Photography Prints
Before you buy, make sure you have fully considered the lighting environment your artwork will be displayed in. It's important to note that if you have your brightness on your monitor turned all the way up, it will make photographs appear much brighter than they actually are in real life. However, when properly lit, a Fujiflex print mounted with TruLife Acrylic will have reactive properties which will make the artwork come to life with an incredible three-dimensional feel that almost makes them appear back-lit. Adding extra accent lighting will put your new art piece at center stage so it commands attention as a breathtaking focal point in the room. A ChromaLuxe metal print is incredibly glossy and benefits greatly from proper lighting as well to prevent unsightly reflections.
Make sure that you never place your art on a wall that receives direct sunlight. Even with the UV protection built into the TruLife acrylic, sunlight contains infrared radiation which will damage and fade your print. Avoid direct sunlight at all costs. Additionally, direct sunlight will create glare and reflection in almost all scenarios!
Be careful of heat damage. Placing accent lights too close to your print can also cause heat damage. Put your hand in front of the print with your lights turned on; if you can feel any heat, those bulbs are too close.
Additionally, never use fluorescent lighting. These bulbs not only emit a lot of ultraviolet light which can fade the print, but the color of the light distorts the natural colors in your photograph, making them appear unnatural. I recommend you use LED bulbs - they produce a low amount of heat, are energy efficient, and produce the most natural color balance to display your artwork. Also, I recommend getting bulbs in the 3000K to 4000K spectrum for the most natural lighting experience.
Lastly, I recommend you aim your light from above at a 30 degree angle - this prevents reflections from the light source and prevents shadows cast by you, the viewer!
I have a 40" x 60" TruLife Acrylic Print hanging in my own home and have followed these steps to really bring the print to life. I wanted to showcase this as an example for you here so you can see how little glare is created when the print is properly lit. This is in an office space with an open window to the outside directly opposite of the print.
Below you can see the small amount of glare created by the open window when viewing the print at an angle.
Below you can see the slight reflection of the six LED lights I have pointed down onto the print at an angle. If this were traditional acrylic or glass, the glare and reflection would completely overpower the artwork.
